As another year goes by, the minimum wage has changed again. Make sure you are earning what you are entitled to, whether you are under 18, over 25 or an apprentice.
|Year||25 and over||21 to 24||18 to 20||Under 18||Apprentice|
Apprentices are entitled to the apprentice rate if they’re either:
– aged under 19
– aged 19 or over and in the first year of their apprenticeship
If you are an Apprentice and you are over 19 AND have completed the first year of your apprenticeship, you are entitled to the minimum wage for you age. For example, if you are into the second year of your apprenticeship and you are 22 years old, you would be entitled to £8.20 an hour, rather than £4.15.
