Congratulations to you all for completing your A Levels, Diplomas, T – levels and Further Education Qualifications. If everything has gone to plan, congratulations and have a great time with the next step on your career journey.
Your next steps
With everything that is going on around us, you may have had a change of mind about your next steps. There are some amazing work opportunities and higher-level courses you can do locally.
You could continue your education at the next level, start work, or combine the two with an apprenticeship.
There is a large number of employers near you who are looking for their next recruit. There is always more to a job than what is described in an advert. It can be hard to explain and put everything into a Job Description! To get an idea of the culture and the feel of the business a meeting is always best, for example, an interview. During this time, you can meet the teams and ask any questions you may have. Being prepared and organised for an interview gives you more confidence, even though may still be nervous.
Transferrable Skills
Through your education, hobbies and part-time working, you have developed skills such as independent study, online communications, meeting deadlines, team working, and problem solving. You should be very proud!
These are the basic ingredients that employers look for in their new recruits, plus an interest and willingness to learn.
Support for Your Future
Your results give you and employers a benchmark for you academically, you will also have different skills and interests outside of these.
There is a lot of support out there for you, such as your college/sixth form careers adviser or even local businesses if you feel you are work ready and would like an opportunity to earn and learn through an Apprenticeship.
