About me

I am delighted to be part of the Sue Willmott HR team as an HR Consultant, having joined the business in October 2023.

After just shy of 11 years spent within the Hospitality industry as an in-house HR professional, I am excited to continue my journey with Sue and her team providing HR advice and guidance to businesses across a variety of sectors.

Throughout my career I have enjoyed working in some beautiful & iconic Hospitality venues in Cornwall, which has provided many unique and interesting HR challenges and opportunities to advise on. Guiding employees, advising managers, senior business leaders and directors was a large part of my role and was invaluable in helping me develop my coaching style and ability to tailor my pragmatic approach to suit each individual and business.

Having been passionate about learning and expanding my knowledge for as long as I can remember, I completed my Masters in Human Resource Management in 2016 and have been an Associate Member of the CIPD for the past seven years.

I pride myself on the relationships that I build with those whom I am advising and get much fulfillment from sharing my knowledge and experience with others. A good day for me is when I can support with a situation that at first appears quite challenging, but by breaking it down and taking it a step at a time a positive outcome can be achieved.

Keeping up to date

Regularly engaging with the CIPD has been hugely beneficial to my continued knowledge enhancement in the world of HR. From reading up on recent case law to participating in webinars, I believe that every day offers an opportunity to learn.

I particularly enjoy listening to podcasts relating to employment law to keep up to date, and have no doubt that I will learn from my experienced peers at Sue Willmott HR as well as bringing my experience and knowledge to the team.

Outside of work…

Having a young family means that my time away from work is even more important to me. We spend a lot of time exploring our favourite woodland and seaside walks in Cornwall.

Having a curious toddler who loves nothing more than to splash in muddy puddles means that even the wet and windy Cornish weather can’t stop us from going out and braving the elements, which is something that I now look forward to each weekend.

I would consider myself a bit of a foodie (an amateur one at least) and get great enjoyment from eating out at local restaurants, cooking for my family and doing the odd bit of baking.

Photography is another particular interest of mine; a perfect day for me would be a scenic walk where I can practice some camera skills, capture some images of my family and finish with a hot chocolate and marshmallows (if my daughter leaves me any!).
